Town release quartet

Grimsby Town have told four players they will not be offered new deals.

Grimsby Town have told four players, including Gary Croft, that they will not be offered new deals at the end of the season.

33-year-old Croft is in his second spell at Blundell Park, after beginning his career with The Mariners he enjoyed spells with Blackburn, Ipswich, Wigan and Cardiff before returning to the cub.

But his stay will not be prolonged after being told he is surplus to requirements.

Matt Bloomer, Simon Grand and Rob Murray have also been told they can look for new clubs.

"Decisions have been made with Crofty, Rob Murray, Blooms (Matthew Bloomer) and Simon Grand," said manager Alan Buckley.

"They're all hard decisions, whether it's a player you've known for years or a player you haven't known so long.

"They are always hard decisions, these are decisions that you have to make - it's all part of the job really.

"Assessing players' strengths and weaknesses, what they can give you, what they might not be able to give you."

Ciaran Toner and Gary Jones have both been offered new deals.
