County bag keeper

Notts County have swooped to sign Kevin Pilkington from Mansfield.

Notts County have swooped to sign Kevin Pilkington who appears to be the replacement for Saul Deeney at Meadow Lane.

Pilkington has opted to head away from Mansfield Town by the lure of a two-year deal and he is likely to be the first choice in the plans of manager Gudjon Thordarson.

Current number one at County is Deeney, but he seems almost certain to head out of Meadow Lane after rejecting their latest contract offer.

The 22-year-old's current deal is due to expire at the end of June, but he will remain a County player on a week-to-week contract until he finds a new club.

Deeney has forged a decent reputation at Meadow Lane and is unlikely to be short of offers this summer.
