Full-back admits Rovers exit was mutual decision

Joe Jacobson admits the decision to leave Bristol Rovers was 'mutual' and believes he has joined a bigger club in Oldham Athletic. The Welsh full-back had spent the last two seasons with Rovers, but has now signed a two-year contract with League One rivals Oldham. He is looking forward to a fresh start with Dave Penney's side and is optimistic about the future at Boundary Park. "I think I have joined a bigger and better club than Bristol Rovers and I am delighted to have the opportunity to play here," Jacobson told the Oldham Chronicle. "I am looking for us to be up near the top challenging for promotion. I cannot wait to get started." The former Cardiff City youngster also revealed he had several options to consider after coming to the conclusion he needed to leave Rovers. He said: "I know my agent spoke to a number of clubs while I was away and this deal was finalised within the space of two days. "The club knew I was not happy and the decision to leave was mutual - I didn't want to stay and they wanted me to leave."
