Chester City have signed former Everton trainee Graham Allen on a free transfer.

Chester City have signed former Everton trainee Graham Allen on a free transfer.

Allen spent the last two seasons at Rushden & Diamonds, where he struggled for a starting place in recent times.

The 29-year-old began his career at Goodison Park before making the short switch to Tranmere Rovers, where he spent six successful years.

The defender played almost 200 games at Prenton Park before joining Rushden in 2004.

Allen made just five appearances as The Diamonds lost their Football League status last term but will be playing League Two football next season after agreeing a one-year deal at the Deva Stadium.

Meanwhile, youth team player Robert Marsh-Evans has agreed professional terms with Chester.

The 18-year-old defender is a product of the YTS system at the club.
