Ferguson keen for defender to be playing regularly

Preston North End boss Darren Ferguson has confirmed Neal Trotman is discussing a loan move to Huddersfield Town. Skysports.com revealed on Tuesday that the Terriers had lined up a swoop for Trotman, who has recently completed a spell at League One rivals Southampton. Ferguson is keen for the defender to be playing regular first-team football and is waiting for Trotman to finalise his switch to the Galpharm Stadium. "They've enquired and he is going to speak to them," Ferguson told the club's official website. "He has done fine in training, but I obviously have five fit centre-halves at the moment and for his benefit he does need to go out and get games. "I have spoken to the lad, he is happy to go. It is not a done deal yet, but it is progressing that way." The new Preston chief also revealed he may ask his father Sir Alex about borrowing one of Manchester United's young players. He added: "We're trying to do things with one or two things, but there's nothing anywhere near concrete at the moment. "There are a few [Manchester United players] out on loan at the moment and I am not going to go knocking on his door for five or six. "If I was to get the one, it would have to be the right one and a really good one, so I am not dismissing it."
