Gulls steal the points from Pirates

ON-LOAN Ipswich Town striker Richard Logan netted a 79th winner for Torquay United as they came out on top of the West Country derby with Bristol Rovers by 2-1.

It was three priceless points gained for the South Devon side, who are again embroiled in a relegation scrap and slipped further down the league table in the wake of Carlisle's back-to-back wins against Leyton Orient and Hull City.

Chris Brandon, who continued in his role as a makeshift striker after an encouraging display at York last week, put The Gulls in front shortly before half time, but it did not take long for The Pirates to get back on level terms.

Nathan Ellington levelled after 56 minutes to send the huge travelling army of Rovers fans into ecstacy, but with a draw on the cards, Logan popped up to steal the points for the home side late on.
