Taylor nets County deal

Stockport midfielder Jason Taylor has signed a new two-year deal at Edgeley Park.

Stockport County have been handed a boost with news of in-form midfielder Jason Taylor having signed a new two-year deal at Edgeley Park.

Taylor only arrived at the League Two promotion hopefuls in the summer from North West neighbours Oldham but some sterling performances have now been rewarded.

Such has been Taylor's rise in prominence, Stockport boss Jim Gannon believes he could soon be attracting attention from further up the football pyramid but for the moment, he is delighted to have secured the 20-year-old's services for the foreseeable future.

"He has all the attributes in terms of stamina and work-rate, plus he is mobile and we keep trying to add to his game," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"He has grown in confidence and he could be a fantastic player.

"He might out-grow us but I like to think we are bringing in players that will grow with this club.

"We think he's going to be an important player for us for a number of years and I'm delighted he's extended his contract."
