Goalkeeper hands League Two club a boost

Port Vale goalkeeper Joe Anyon has wasted little time in putting pen-to-paper on a one-year contract extension. There were fears the highly thought of shot-stopper may want to move away from Vale Park after the club's recent disappointing campaign. But that has been brushed aside after the 21-year-old, who is currently sidelined with a broken leg, accepted terms almost immediately. Vale's supporters' player of the year told the club's official website: "I am delighted and over the moon to be re-signing with Port Vale. "I am working hard now and fighting to get back to full fitness ready for the start of the new season." Vale's board have also revealed they have drawn up a shortlist of six unnamed candidates for the vacant manager's position. Interviews are scheduled to take place early next week and a decision is expected shortly after.
