Peters rocked by call-up

Shrews boss Gary Peters says Dave Edwards' call-up to the Wales squad will be a massive blow to his side.

Shrewsbury boss Gary Peters insists Dave Edwards' call-up to the Wales squad will be a massive blow to his side.

The 21-year-old received his first call-up for the games against Northern Ireland and San Marino, but will miss three Shrewsbury games as a result.

The Shrews are currently eight points adrift of the League Two play-off places with at least three games in hand of the sides above them and Peters is not happy about losing the midfielder for a crucial period in the season.

"The call up is great news for Dave, but terrible news for us," Peters told the club's official website.

"We've got potentially a very exciting end to the season coming up and some big games and we know he'll be out for at least three of them.

"I think it's unfair because the Premiership clubs can avoid letting their players go away, but unfortunately for us it means we'll be without our best players and it's very hard for us."
