Chester's Mark Wright is set to sign a new two-year contract.
Chester manager Mark Wright is poised to sign a new two-year contract with the League Two outfit, who have been censured by Saturday's opponents Shrewsbury.
City chairman Steve Vaughan announced the news concerning Wright at Wednesday night's fans' forum.
Wright has agreed the terms of the deal and is expected to put pen-to-paper shortly.
Vaughan was delighted by Wright's assurances and believes it puts the club on a sound footing.
"I am pleased that we have come to an agreement with Mark," said Vaughan.
"He has agreed a financial package and, more importantly, it gives the club the stability that we have been looking for."
Meanwhile, Shrewsbury manager Gary Peters has criticised Vaughan for suggesting City midfielder Stuart Drummond is set to join his side in the summer.
Drummond has turned down the offer of a new contract from Chester and Vaughan had claimed on Wednesday that Drummond would sign for The Shrews.
But Peters dismissed the claim as premature and insisted his side are not in the business of showing their hand in a similar fashion to that which left The Football Association with egg on their face recently.
The FA publicly tried and failed to land Luiz Felipe Scolari as the new England manager before settling for Steve McClaren on Thursday and Peters believes The FA could learn a thing or two from the Gay Meadow club.
"If I made an announcement which didn't come to fruition then I'd look foolish," Peters told Shrewsbury's official website.
"I don't work like the English Football Association - I run this club professionally."
