Shrews re-sign old boy

MARK CARTWRIGHT has re-signed for Shrewsbury Town in order to compete with Ian Dunbavin for the number one slot at Gay Meadow.

Buoyed by the injection of some much-needed cash by the team's FA Cup run, and live Sky encounter with Chelsea, manager Kevin Ratcliffe has been able to bring in a new face.

Cartwright is signing an 18-month contract, with an option for a further year, after returning from a spell in the United States.

The 30-year-old made 14 league appearances for The Shrews before leaving last May as a consequence of the ITV Digital deal collapse.

He can list the likes of York City, Wrexham and Brighton on his footballing CV.
