Semple joins Imps

Lincoln City have signed Peterborough United's Ryan Semple on a two-year deal.

Lincoln City have signed Peterborough United winger Ryan Semple on a two-year contract at Sincil Bank.

The Belfast-born player had been in talks regarding a move to The Imps after Peterborough gave their League Two rivals permission to speak to the midfielder.

Semple has now agreed on a two-year contract with Lincoln, having put pen to paper prior to Monday's pre-season friendly with Leicester City to become the club's third signing of the summer, despite attracting interest from Chester City.

The news comes as a former Lincoln player is set to move in the other direction, with striker Simon Yeo due to sign for The Posh on Tuesday following a successful trial.

Lincoln, meanwhile, look set to take their number of summer signings to four after tabling a one-year contract offer to former Aston villa midfielder Ryan Amoo.

The 22-year-old, who has been out of the game following his release from Northampton Town in late March 2005, has impressed Lincoln's management team of John Schofield and John Deehan during a pre-season trial.
