Sky Sports understands that Crawley Town are poised to bring in striker Nicky Ajose from Peterborough United.
The 20-year-old struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at London Road last season after joining from Manchester United, and spent time out on loan at Scunthorpe and Chesterfield.
He had previously had a stint with Bury, where he worked with current Crawley manager Richie Barker.
And it is thought that Barker is looking to sign Ajose to boost his attacking options for the new League One season.
Crawley take on Scunthorpe on Saturday in their opening league game of the season, having beaten Millwall on penalties in the Capital One Cup earlier in the week.
