Tuttle rejects caretaker role

David Tuttle has turned down the role of Swindon Town caretaker manager.

David Tuttle has turned down the opportunity to become Swindon Town caretaker manager.

The former Millwall boss, who is the League Two club's head of youth and scouting, was initially appointed as interim manager following the departures of Dennis Wise and Gustavo Poyet to Leeds United.

Both Wise and Poyet are in talks over personal terms to formally succeed Kevin Blackwell at Elland Road after both Leeds and Swindon were able to reach a deal for compensation for the former Chelsea pair.

After taking time to think over the caretaker role, Tuttle has decided to decline Swindon's offer and remain in his current post at The County Ground.

"I gave it a lot of thought," Tuttle told the club's official website. "The club offered me the position of caretaker manager on Monday evening - which I accepted.

"However, after much deliberation and after speaking with my family - I have decided it's not right.

"I am committed to Swindon Town and want to continue developing my current role with the youth team and scouting here.

"The club is the most important thing and I have made an honest decision."

As a result, The Robins have appointed club captain Adie Williams as caretaker manager with immediate effect.

The former Reading, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City player joined the Wiltshire-based outfit back in the summer and will now take interim charge of first-team affairs.
