Pools ace pens new deal

Richie Humphreys has signed a new contract at Hartlepool United.

Richie Humphreys has ended the uncertainty surrounding his future by signing a new contract at Hartlepool United.

The midfielder's deal was due to expire in the summer and there were fears he could leave Victoria Park after four years.

But Humphreys has penned fresh terms with the League One promotion hopefuls and had no qualms in staying with Pools.

"I'm really happy to extend my stay here," Humphreys told the club's official website.

"I've enjoyed some really good times, with play-offs and promotions, and now a play-off final to cap it off."

The 27-year-old helped Pools to the League One play-off final against former club Sheffield Wednesday by scoring the decisive spot kick in the shoot-out against Tranmere earlier in the week.
