Bournemouth, Burton and Celtic were all crowned champions on Saturday, while Bury and MK Dons secured promotion on the final weekend of the Football League.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Bournemouth have sealed promotion to the Premier League as champions after Sheffield Wednesday scored a last-gasp equaliser to deny Watford the title. 

A Matt Ritchie double and a goal form Harry Arter secured a 3-0 win over Charlton to spark title celebrations for Eddie Howe’s side at the Valley.

Watford were on course for the title after Matej Vydra’s first half header but Atdhe Nuhiu found the target in the 90th minute to claim a 1-1 draw.

Norwich will face East Anglia rivals Ipswich in the play-offs, while Middlesbrough will tackle Brentford after Wolves and Derby narrowly missed out.

Wolves cruised to a 4-2 victory over relegated Milwall to match Brentford and Ipswich’s 78-point haul but finished seventh after missing out on goal difference.

Derby, who were Championship leaders just a couple of months ago, finished a point further adrift after slumping to a 3-0 home defeat to Reading.

MK Dons will be playing Championship football next season after crushing already-relegated Yeovil 5-1.

Preston’s hopes of automatic promotion were ended by a 1-0 defeat to Colchester, a result which saw the Essex side avoid relegation.

Champions Bristol City celebrated their title success with an 8-2 victory over Walsall

LEAGUE TWO

Bury are celebrating promotion after a narrow 1-0 win against already-relegated Tranmere sealed third place, while Southend dropped into the second play-off spot after a miserable 3-1 defeat at Morecambe.

10-man Burton clinched the title with a 3-2 win at Cambridge after nearest rivals Shrewsbury, who started the day two points behind the champions, suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Plymouth, whose three-pointer means a play-off against Wycombe.

Southend and Stevenage will contend the other semi-final as they look to claim a place in the third tier next season.

Celtic have been confirmed as champions after their nearest challenger Aberdeen lost 1-0 at Dundee United.

The Hoops recorded a comprehensive 5-0 dismantling of Dundee at Parkhead on Friday night to move onto 85 points with three matches remaining, while the Dons cannot mathematically catch them now with 74.

Champions Hearts battled back from two goals down against Rangers thanks to a double from substitute Genero Zeefuik to leave the Ibrox club facing six play-off matches in their bid to reach the top flight.

Hibernian cruised to a 3-0 win at Falkirk to confirm second spot, while Livingston secured safety with a 1-0 win over Queen of the South.

Alloa condemned Cowdenbeath to League One football next season after claiming a 3-0 home win.

However, the Wasps must now defeat Brechin City in the Championship play-off semi-finals to avoid relegation.
