Fleetwood striker relishing promotion

Fleetwood striker Andy Mangan hopes to make up for lost time next season after three years out of the Football League. The 25-year-old opted to drop out into the Conference Premier in 2008 when he left Bury for Forest Green Rovers. Since then he has netted 69 goals in 156 appearances for Rovers, Wrexham and Fleetwood, culminating in the latter's promotion this season. However, Mangan, who came through the ranks at Blackpool, told Sky Sports that the Cod Army won't be going into League Two next season to merely make up the numbers. "It has been absolutely amazing season since leaving Wrexham and joining Fleetwood last summer," he said.

Aim

"The main aim back then was promotion, so to have achieved that now and in the way that we did has been sensational. "It will be the first time that the club has been in the Football League, but I don't think that we need to fear anything at that level. "You only have to look at the clubs that have gone up in previous years, such as Stevenage, Crawley and before that the likes of Carlisle, Yeovil and Doncaster, to see how well they've done. "They've all gone from strength to strength after getting into the Football League, so I'm sure that we'll hold our own next year. "It was my decision to leave the Football League when I did because at 21 I really needed to be playing regular football and I wasn't getting that at the time. "I didn't really get a chance in the side at Bury when Jim Harvey told me to go to Forest Green and learn how to play football. "I did and scored 30 odd goals before signing for Wrexham where I learned a lot more off Dean Saunders. "I've kept improving every year since I left the Football League and at the end of the day it is a great place to be, but there are some really good sides outside it as well."
