Burnley skipper Graham Alexander is undecided over whether to retire at the end of the season.
The veteran midfielder became just the second outfield player in the history of the Football League to reach 1,000 professional appearances after appearing against Swansea on Saturday.
The 40-year-old received a standing ovation for the achievement during a senior career that has spanned 20 years since his early days at Scunthorpe, including a season in the top flight with Burnley last season.
The Clarets are still in with a shout of reaching the play-offs this season, and could achieve an unlikely return to the Premier League if they get to Wembley in May.
Despite the prospect of ending his career on a high, Alexander insisted he was not contemplating quitting yet.
"Come the summer I'll have to make a decision whether to stay here as a coach and carry on with that or play somewhere else," he said.
Options
"I'm trying not to think about it at the moment, I'm just going to wait until the summer and see what my options are.
"We're two points away, and we've got to play Leeds, Cardiff and Derby, but we're concentrating on one game at a time and that's the best way to do it.
"If we get there, we know what it's about, we've been there two years ago and the prize at the end of it is fantastic.
"People say it would be nice to finish at Wembley but why should I deprive myself of another year if I still love it.
"It doesn't have to be the end. It doesn't have to have a fairytale finish. Lots of players don't realise it is their last game.
"If you still enjoy what you're doing, why stop? I can understand why Eric Cantona wanted to go out like he did but I'm not at that sort of level."
