Midfielder's chance to impress hit by the weather

Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido is pessimistic about the chances of keeping Bryan Hughes at the club beyond this weekend. The experienced midfielder signed for the Brewers on a one-month deal in December, but has only managed 56 minutes due to the winter weather conditions. However, with the Canadian keen to extend the 34-year-old's current deal, Peschisolido acknowledged that time is running out for the ex-Birmingham playmaker to impress. "It has been difficult for Bryan because he has come in from the cold having not played for a long time and unfortunately the weather conditions this winter haven't helped matters," Peschisolido told skysports.com. "It would have been great to get a series of games under his belt and see the sharpness come back to him, but it has been stop-start for him. "His current deal will expire at the weekend, but we will have to see what we can do. "There is no doubt that he still has the quality, but I think that he wants to play at a higher level."
