Keeper signs contract for League Two side

Shrewsbury have completed the signing of former Doncaster goalkeeper Ben Smith on a two-year deal. The 23-year-old shot-stopper has been on trial at Greenhous Meadow for the past couple of weeks as revealed by skysports.com earlier in the month. Manager Graham Turner is pleased to have fought off the competition from other clubs to secure Smith's services. He told Town's official website: "He is a good character and wants to play for the club and help to push us on to success. "It's good news that he has chosen to join the club and I look forward to continuing the hard work with him on the training field. "With Ben joining that gives us good competition in the goalkeeping position, with him pushing Chris Neal and Hakan Duyan all the way." Smith becomes Shrewsbury's second signing in as many days following the arrival of midfielder Sean McAllister.
