Moss Rose boss to continue assessing trialists

Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson will maintain his assessment of trialists Jack Cudworth and Matt Hamshaw. The duo both made an impact during Tuesday's 5-0 pre-season friendly win at Newcastle Town, with midfielder Hamshaw netting two goals and goalkeeper Cudworth producing a clean sheet. Simpson says he will have a second look at the pair during the Silkmen's next friendly on Saturday. "I've asked them to come along to training later this week with a view to also looking at them again in the friendly on Saturday," said Simpson. "Matt didn't really play a lot of football last season at Notts County and I know he wants to get playing again." Meanwhile, the Silkmen have decided to ban the vuvuzela from Moss Rose after discussion with supporters. Commercial and Operations manager Sally Brealey said: "After throwing it open to the public, the decision in favour of a ban came back with an almost 80% majority."
