Young forward pens professional deal at Southend

Teenage striker Harry Crawford has been handed his first professional contract by Southend. The 18-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the Shrimpers just a day after Paul Sturrock was revealed as the club's new manager. Crawford made his full Shrimpers debut in the 3-0 home win over Walsall in March and went on to make six further appearances, scoring his only goal in a 2-1 success against Stockport at Roots Hall in May. "I'm really proud to commit my future to the football club," said Crawford. "The end of last season was brilliant for me. Getting some playing time for the first team and to get my first goal was nice. Hopefully I can now carry on under the new manager."
