Davies hopeful of bringing in new striker

Chester City are in talks to sign Wrexham striker Michael Proctor as they look to bolster their attack. The League Two outfit have failed to score in their opening two league games of the season and City boss Simon Davies is determined to bring in some new firepower. Davies is now hoping to persuade Proctor to leave Wrexham for Chester. "I have had talks with Michael Proctor, but our interest in the player is still in it's early stages," Davies told the Chester Standard. "Michael told me that he was still wanting to give it a go at Wrexham after being left out of the side so far this season.

Not sure

"I'm not sure if he will be coming to us because he still has two years left on his contract at Wrexham. "Michael came across very well when I spoke to him and he is obviously a player who we all know about after he did so well against us last season. "The fact that he has told me he is prepared to stay at Wrexham and fight for his place shows character from the lad. "I've not given Michael a deadline to get back in touch, but we have until the end of the month before the transfer window closes."
