Veteran midfielder leaves County

Tony Dinning has left Stockport after the club agreed to terminate his contract. The 32-year-old midfielder decided to leave Edgeley Park after struggling to force his way into County manager Jim Gannon's first XI this season. "I am very sad to be leaving the club as I have enjoyed my association with County," Dinning told Stockport's official website. "However I need to be playing and now hope to get the chance of first-team football elsewhere." Stockport managing director Mark Maguire added: "Clearly at this stage of Tony's career it is important that he is playing football and due to the lack of opportunity here, we felt it right to assist Tony by agreeing to cancel his contract." Denning joined County in 1994 from Newcastle, but moved to Wolves in 2000. The veteran, who made 264 appearances for the Hatters, then rejoined the club in 2006.
