Burton nets Barnet deal

Barnet have signed Sagi Burton after the defender impressed on trial.

Barnet have signed Sagi Burton after the defender impressed on trial.

Burton was released by Shrewsbury Town at the end of last season, having spent 18 months with Gary Peters' side.

The defender linked up with Barnet at the start of pre-season and has done enough to warrant a contract with the League Two club.

Paul Fairclough is happy to add the 29-year-old to his squad, but the Bees manager insists he is not a replacement for Simon King, who has joined Gillingham.

"You cannot compare him to Simon King," Fairclough told the club's official website. "He will offer us different qualities to Simon."

Burton was also glad to resolve his future, saying: "I am looking forward to this new challenge at Barnet."
