Brentford boss Mark Warburton admits expectations are growing as Griffin Park side continue their Championship assault.

The Bees, who only came up from League One last season, have emerged as surprise promotion hopefuls in the Championship following a run of six wins from their last seven matches.

Blackburn were their latest scalp on Saturday following victories over Derby, Nottingham Forest, Millwall, Fulham and Wolves to leave Brentford two points off the top of the table.

And Warburton said: "These are all big clubs.

"At the start of the season all the talk from everyone was about surviving in the division. Now, fans are saying that anything less than play-off place is a bad season.

"This is a big league, a tough league, and we have to respect that and look at the next game.

"We have a squad of players who have work rate and commitment with quality on the pitch. We will go as hard and as long we can, and see where it takes us."
