Port Vale skipper joins Chesterfield

Midfielder Paul Harsley has joined Chesterfield from Port Vale on a two-year-deal. Harsley, Port Vale's captain and player of the year this season, had been offered a new contract by the relegated League One club. However, he has decided to move to Chesterfield and will link up with his new team-mates when he becomes a free agent later in the summer. Harsley explained: "Although I was happy at Port Vale, I liked the sound of what was happening here and decided that Chesterfield was the better option for me." Spireites manager Lee Richardson, who has already snapped up defender Rob Page and tied midfielder Derek Niven to an extension, is excited by his latest arrival. Richardson said: "I am delighted that Paul has decided to join us as he brings a wealth of valuable experience to the squad."
