Teenage goalkeeper Lloyd Rigby has left League Two side Rochdale by mutual consent.
He had signed his first professional contract with the club last summer but has decided to try his luck elsewhere after failing to break into the first-team at Spotland.
A graduate of the club's Centre of Excellence, Rigby saw his opportunities limited by the arrivals James Spencer and Sam Russell and spent a brief spell on loan at non-league side Vauxhall Motors earlier in the season.
The decision to release him at this point has come as something as a surprise as Spencer and Russell are both currently sidelined, leaving on loan Tommy Lee as the only senior keeper at the club.

Dale's chief executive Colin Garwick has revealed that the keeper crisis is an issue which manager Keith Hill is keen to resolve and admits that a new face could arrive before the emergency loan window closes on Thursday.
"With the injuries to James and Sam we are now left with just Tommy Lee," he told the club's official website.
"Despite rumours to the contrary Tommy is still with us and is on a 28 day loan (from Macclesfield), but that does have a recall clause in it.
"Given the fact that the deadline for transfers is today (Thursday) we may well see someone brought in as cover for Tommy as the day progresses."
