Skysports.com understands Charlton are in talks to sign Exeter defender Matt Taylor.
Taylor has established himself as one of the best defenders in the lower leagues after impressing for Exeter over the last few seasons.
Addicks boss Chris Powell is keen to bolster his defensive options and he has targeted a move for the former Everton youngster.
The 29-year-old is understood to be undergoing a medical at The Valley ahead of sealing his move to Charlton.
Should Taylor tie up his move to Charlton he will become the club's fourth new signing of the week following the arrivals of Rhoys Wiggins, Danny Green and Dale Stephens.
