Grimsby hoping to agree deal with striker

John Fenty has confirmed Grimsby are keen to sign Barry Conlon permanently but has hinted he may have to accept a pay cut. Conlon spent the past few months of the season on loan at Blundell Park after joining from Bradford City. The 30-year-old is out of contract in the summer and Grimsby supremo Fenty is keen to thrash out a deal with the striker. However, Fenty has hinted that if the parties are to agree fresh terms then the Irishman might have to lower his wage demands.

Ransom

"We can't be held to ransom with any players this summer," he told the Grimsby Telegraph. "We know what Barry was paid on his pervious contract at Bradford because we've been paying that to him. "There's no doubt if he wants to be at this club then a deal can be done. "We are in talks already and we want to sit down with Barry and be sure about the deal .Our intention is to make that happen as soon as we can."
