Yates delighted to see key men pen fresh terms

Josh Low, Michael Pook and Dave Bird have signed contract extensions to keep them at Cheltenham Town. Low and Pook have put pen to paper on two-year deals, while midfield stalwart Bird has committed his future to the club for another 12 months. All three players were key members of the Robins fold last season as they battled bravely against the drop. In the end Cheltenham were able to preserve their League Two status and manager Mark Yates is delighted to be able to start his plans for next season safe in the knowledge that a trio of his top talents have agreed to stick with the club. "I'm delighted to have the three of them available for us next season," he told the club's official website.

Continuity

"They're good players and we all know that. It's up to us to get some good players to go with them now so we can build a strong and competitive squad. "We tried to keep the better players we had and it was important that we did have a sense of continuity rather than building a completely new squad. "Birdy can play in a number of positions and he's a solid stalwart for this club. "Josh has been very good since I've been here and he's a great athlete. I'm delighted we've kept hold of him because there was a number of clubs sniffing around. "To keep hold of Pooky is fantastic too because he showed his true worth for us towards the end of the season. He's a winner, a great lad and he's captain material."
