Winger follows manager Yates from Kidderminster

Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates has made attacker Brian Smikle his first new signing of the summer. The 24-year-old winger follows Yates and first-team coach Neil Howarth to Whaddon Road from non-league outfit Kidderminster Harriers, having come through the ranks at West Brom. Smikle, better known as 'Junior', signs on a free transfer and Howarth believes he will be a valuable asset next season. "Junior is an exciting player who has got pace, enthusiasm and plenty of endeavour," he told the club's official website. "He is tricky, gets in his fair share of shots at goal and was a firm favourite with the supporters at Kidderminster. "Over the past two seasons he has been as good as any player in the Blue Square Premier and a lot of clubs were interested in him so it's great that he has come to us. "Junior had a couple of better financial offers on the table but has chosen to join us because he has worked with Mark and I before and he knows he will enjoy it. "For a wide player or midfielder he scores a lot of goals and has made double figures in each of the last two seasons. "He can play on either flank in either a three or four man midfield and basically, wherever we put him I know he won't let us down."
