Bell pens Robins deal

Cheltenham midfielder Mickey Bell has agreed a new contract at Whaddon Road.

Cheltenham Town midfielder Mickey Bell has agreed a new contract at Whaddon Road.

34-year-old Bell joined the club in January and helped them secure promotion to League One.

"With his experience of this league and football in general," said Robins boss John Ward.

"I have told him he can be important for the other players we have in the squad."

Meanwhile, Cheltenham number two Keith Downing has pledged his short-term future to the club.

"I am keen to work with John and I have known him for a good five or six years now," said Downing.

"I came here with the intentions of learning from him and I am going to continue to do that.

"Ideally I'd like to work here for a year or two more and if an opportunity comes elsewhere then obviously I'd like to consider it in terms of management."
