Derby County's Miles Addison could spend the first half of next season out on loan.

Youngster may make short-term move to regain match sharpness

Derby's Miles Addison could spend the first half of next season out on loan in order to regain his match sharpness. The versatile 22-year-old penned a new two-year deal on Tuesday having returned to full fitness during the second half of last season following 10 months on the sidelines recovering from foot surgery. And the Academy graduate may be set for a loan spell at another Championship club over the opening half of the forthcoming campaign in a bid to help him get back up to speed as soon as possible. Chief executive Tom Glick told the Rams' official website: "First and foremost, the new contract sends a message to Miles that he is part of our future. "Everyone remembers how well he played in the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons and because of that he was capped by England's Under 21 team. "We expect him to get back to that level in time, but we also want him to continue to develop and mature as a player so we will look whether that will be in our first team initially or out on loan. "What we want to do is get Miles playing 23 matches in the first half of the season either here or out on loan."
