Tilson confirms no new deal for Sankofa

Simon Francis is hoping to secure a move away from Southend United following the club's relegation to League Two. The right-back is keen to play at a higher level next season and is waiting to see if he receives any offers over the summer. He rejected a move to Peterborough United in the January transfer window and believes Southend will understand his reasons for wanting to move now. "I want to keep my options open and see what's out there," Francis told The Echo.

Ambitious

"I'm ambitious and want to play at a higher level with a top League One or Championship side because that's where I feel I belong as a player. "I believe I can do better than League Two as well. The manager knows that and the chairman too. "So hopefully, the club won't stand in my way if the right offer comes along." Meanwhile, Shrimpers boss Steve Tilson has decided to release defender Osei Sankofa at the end of his Roots Hall contract. Tilson said: "I think Osei needs to go and get himself more games next season to be honest. "His opportunities have been few and far between with us, especially this season."
