Full-back available on a free transfer after leaving West Brom

Gus Poyet will consider a permanent deal for Joe Mattock, but suggested it could be 'difficult' for Brighton & Hove Albion to sign the full-back. Mattock spent the second half of the season on loan at Brighton and made 15 Championship appearances during his time at the Amex Stadium. The 22-year-old has been released by West Bromwich Albion after struggling to make an impact at The Hawthorns since the club's return to the Premier League. His availability on a free transfer is expected to lead to interest from several clubs during the summer, with Brighton remaining keen on the defender. Poyet appears to be in the market for another left-back and will assess the merits of trying to add Mattock to his squad for next season. The Brighton boss told The Argus: "He is one of our options because we know him well. "He was always on our list as a left-back cover or to challenge with Marcos Painter. "We will consider him. But, yes, it could be difficult."
