Saints and Reading aim to march on in the race for promotion

The Championship's top two hit the road again on Tuesday night after weekend away wins and there is a key game down at the bottom end of the division. West Ham United entertain Middlesbrough in front of the Sky Sports cameras hoping to improve their home form as bottom club Portsmouth face a tricky test. Rickie Lambert scored two late penalties en route to a hat-trick in Southampton's thrilling win at Millwall on Saturday and the leaders face another tricky away date against a Hull City side which has drawn six of the last seven games. Reading maintained their excellent recent run with a thumping 4-0 victory at Barnsley and will be targeting a 10th win in 11 games when heading to Peterborough United. Danny Collins secured West Ham a last-gasp point at Leeds United at the weekend and Sam Allardyce's side will be aiming to end a run of four straight draws at Upton Park when Middlesbrough visit. Birmingham City climbed into fourth on the back of an impressive 3-0 success over Boro and will be confident of another three points at bottom club Portsmouth. Doncaster Rovers dropped back to second from bottom over the weekend and entertain a Millwall side only six points outside the relegation zone. Nottingham Forest are just four points away from the bottom three and Steve Cotterill takes his team to Elland Road to clash with a Leeds United side which has been solid under Neil Warnock. Bristol City are also in the thick of the relegation battle and, after drawing at Portsmouth at the weekend, veteran goalkeeper David James will face another of his former clubs when Watford travel to Ashton Gate. Brighton & Hove Albion's play-off hopes were dented by defeat at rivals Blackpool and the Seagulls will look to bounce back from a first league loss of 2012 by beating Derby County at the AMEX Stadium. Crystal Palace's point against Hull at the weekend took them to 50 points for the campaign and Dougie Freedman's side are at home again as an out-of-sorts Barnsley go to Selhurst Park.
