Brighton striker Sam Vokes is hoping for a repeat of last season by winning promotion with his temporary club.

Striker hoping for further success after helping Norwich last year

Brighton's Sam Vokes is hoping for a repeat of last season by winning promotion with his loan side. The 22-year-old spent the end of last season at Norwich and helped the Canaries maintain their push to the Premier League. Now the Wales international is getting a sense of deja-vu as like the Carrow Road side, Brighton look for back-to-back promotions. The south coast club are currently fifth in the Championship with ten games to go and Vokes feels that Brighton have a bright future ahead of them no matter what happens come May.

Very positive

Vokes told Sky Sports: "It is the club's first year in both the Championship and the new ground, so it is all relatively new, but the lads are very positive and we are all looking to break into those play-off places by the end of the season. "Norwich were in a similar position 12 months ago and look at where they are now, so who knows what can happen to Brighton in the same space of time. "I was there last season and you could tell that there was something special happening at Carrow Road and they are doing really well in the Premier League this season. "If I can help Brighton get to that point then great, but we know that there is a long way to go before that still. "There is no wrong or right time to gain promotion to the Premier League for any club and if we can make that step this year then I'm sure anybody connected with the club would grasp it with both hands. "This is obviously a club that has a bright future ahead of it and should they miss out on promotion this year I'd back them to challenge again in the future."
