Poyet delighted to sign Wolves striker on loan for the rest of season

Brighton & Hove Albion have finalised the signing of Wolves striker Sam Vokes on loan for the rest of the season. Vokes has recently completed a loan spell at Burnley, where he scored twice in nine appearances and featured as a substitute in the Clarets' 1-0 win at Brighton before Christmas. The Wales international, who has made four substitute appearances for Wolves in the Premier League this season, watched the Seagulls' FA Cup win over Newcastle United on Saturday. He has now secured his switch to the AMEX Stadium and Brighton manager Gus Poyet is delighted to have added the 22-year-old to his squad.

Strong

"Sam is a traditional centre-forward, physically strong, and the type of forward we feel will complement the strikers we have here," Poyet told the club's official website. "He showed a huge amount of potential as a teenager at Bournemouth and with Wolves in the Championship, but he has found his opportunities limited in the Premier League. "It's always difficult for a loan player, but I hope that we can be the club at which he flourishes, and that his style of play will suit the way we like to play. "We have an opportunity to get to know each other between now and the end of the season."
