Saints and Hammers claim wins

Southampton and West Ham have moved four points clear at the top of the Championship after both claimed away victories on Saturday. The Saints continue on top after they claimed a comfortable 3-0 win over ten-man Nottingham Forest. Goals from Guly Do Prado, David Connolly and Morgan Schneiderlin did the damage for Nigel Adkins men. But Sam Allardyce's side remain level on points after their 1-0 win at Portsmouth with Mark Noble's first-half penalty proving crucial. The top two have now increased their lead as third placed Cardiff and Middlesbrough in fourth both failed to win. Cardiff were held to goalless draw at second-from-bottom Doncaster, while Middlesbrough lost 2-0 at home to Burnley thanks to first-half strikes from Jay Rodriguez and Kieran Trippier. Reading came from behind in the evening kick-off to beat Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road thanks to goals from Jimmy Kebe and Adam Le Fondre and tighten their grip on a play-off spot. Hull City made sure they did move to within three points of Boro, as they claimed a 1-0 win over Peterborough with Robert Koren claiming the winner. Blackpool missed the chance to move into the play-off spots, but they will be happy to have come from two-goals behind to seal a 2-2 draw at lowly Ipswich. An Angel own-goal and Tommy Smith looked to have set up victory for Paul Jewell's side but strikes from Elliot Grandin and Kevin Phillips sealed a point. Leeds drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park with Robert Snodgrass levelling a Chris Martin goal. Both Birmingham and Derby County moved above Leeds and Blackpool as they sealed victories. Birmingham cruised to a 6-0 win at Millwall thanks to efforts from Curtis Davies, Marlon King (two), Chris Burke, Adam Rooney and Nathan Redmond - but the home side were down to nine men with Shane Lowry and Alan Dunne seeing red. Derby beat bottom-of-the-table Coventry 1-0 at Pride Park with youngster Callum Ball on target 15 minutes from time. Leicester City's indifferent form continued as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Barnsley with an Andy Gray brace sandwiching an effort from Lloyd Dyer. Brighton claimed their second win in succession after a 2-0 triumph over Bristol City at the AMEX Stadium. Goals in each half from Antonio Calderon and Will Buckley did the damage for Gus Poyet's men.
