Brighton boss considering Bournemouth's interest in permanent deal

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet has confirmed Bournemouth are keen to sign on-loan defender Steve Cook on a permanent basis. Cook has made eight appearances for Bournemouth since joining the League One club in October and is out of contract at Brighton at the end of the season. The Cherries are reportedly ready to make an offer to secure the 20-year-old permanently in January and Poyet appears open to selling the player. "They (Bournemouth) are trying to approach us but it's going to take a while to know what is going to happen so we'll see," said Poyet in The Argus. "It is not always in our hands to control the situation. "He is finishing his contract as well, so we need to see what we are doing." Cook has made just six appearances during his Brighton career and has also undertaken loan spells at Eastbourne and Mansfield.
