Spaniard signs new one-year contract

Andrea Orlandi has penned a one-year contract extension with Championship outfit Swansea. The Spaniard appeared to be facing an uncertain future as his previous deal at the Liberty Stadium expired last month. With former boss Roberto Martinez having opted to take the reins at Premier League side Wigan, the winger admits he had no idea as to whether new terms would be forthcoming. However, new coach Paulo Sousa is keen to keep the 24-year-old on board and Orlandi has been persuaded to prolong his time in South Wales. "At one point I thought my time at Swansea had come to an end," he told the club's official website. "When Roberto left I didn't really know where I was. "But I spoke to the new gaffer and he told me to come over to Swansea for a chat. He said he was counting on me and that's what I needed to hear, so I flew straight over from Spain. "He (Sousa) told me I had to improve certain parts of my game and I agreed with him."
