McGhee keen to sign duo

Mark McGhee is still hoping Leon Knight and Danny Cullip will sign new deals.

Brighton boss Mark McGhee has assured the club's fans that contract talks with Leon Knight and Danny Cullip have not stalled.

McGhee is still determined to sign the duo on new contracts, but as yet there has been no deal agreed with either man.

The Seagulls boss says that deals for the two players are still on the agenda, but the club's financial position needs to be clarified before deals can be struck.

"There hasn't been any progress with Leon and Danny, but not because things have stalled in talks, but simply because the situation at the club is that we're trying to get everything together to see where we stand financially, before we know what we can offer these players," McGhee told the club's website.

"There's no ambiguity. We want these boys to sign new contracts."

England Under-21 defender Dan Harding looks to be closer to a new deal with Albion.

"We're talking to Dan Harding all the time," said McGhee. "He's been away on international duty but the chairman and I expect to have a meeting with him and his representative next week."

Midfielder Dean Hammond is also set for a new deal after impressing during his short-term contract.

"What he's done is give himself a long-term future. I gave him an opportunity to prove that he was worthy of it, and I think Dean has been fortunate that his chance came towards the end of his time," added McGhee.
