Huddersfield improved on Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield with a 1-1 draw at York City in their second pre-season friendly of the summer.

Robins manager Mark Robins started with the same team that played in the first half against the Spireites, but they began poorly at Bootham Crescent with the hosts taking a fifth-minute lead when poor defending allowed York's new signing Wes Fletcher to finish off a neat move.

City goalkeeper Michael Ingham then did well to deny Martin Paterson and James Vaughan, while Adam Hammill skimmed the post with a volley.

York were again quick out of the blocks after the interval with Fletcher curling a shot over before Robins began to ring the changes.

Sean Scannell impressed after entering the fray and he did well to tee up Daniel Ward whose shot was blocked.

Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies was then called into action as he palmed away an effort from Ashley Chambers before the visitors finally snatched an equaliser.

Scannell twisted past his marker out wide and then crossed for Daniel Carr to side-foot home his first goal for Huddersfield.
