Laws feels defender will benefit from first-team opportunity

Swansea City have boosted their play-off push with the signing of Burnley defender David Edgar on loan for the rest of the season. Edgar has struggled to make an impact at Burnley since joining from Newcastle United last summer, featuring just six times in the first team. He has now linked up with Swansea in time to be included in the squad for Tuesday's game at Blackpool and Clarets boss Brian Laws feels the 22-year-old will benefit from his stint with the Championship club. "I think it's a great chance for David to get some games because he's obviously frustrated," Laws told the club's official website. "He wants to be in the team just as much as anybody else. "I can't fit him in at this moment in time, but David is very much in our thoughts and I think getting him first-team games with Swansea, who are playing really good football and in a position where they are winning consistently, is a fantastic opportunity. "I think it's a win-win situation we can only benefit from it and so will David. "We will be keeping close tabs on him and will be going to watch him tonight in the game at Blackpool."
