Utility man signs on

Andy Holt has signed a new two-year deal with Northampton Town. The 32-year-old has previously shunned The Cobblers' offer of a new deal at Sixfields. But the utility man has now opted to remain with Northampton and has penned a two-year deal. "I am delighted Andy is staying with us," said boss Ian Sampson. "He has all the attributes of a good, experienced player and you need those in any squad. "He has got a good fitness record, he is a top professional and an excellent example to the younger players, he can play in defence or in midfield - and that is important - and he is a leader in the dressing room. "Andy was perfectly entitled to look around last month and to do what was right for his family but we are delighted that he will now be staying with us after all. "We have reached a compromise on his contract that suits all involved and this is terrific news."
