Midfielder happy to stay with Cobblers

Northampton midfielder Ryan Gilligan is set to extend his Sixfields stay after agreeing a new deal with the Cobblers. The 23-year-old is the club's longest-serving player after moving from Watford's Academy in 2005 and has contributed 11 goals this season. Manager Ian Sampson said: "Ryan has agreed to sign a new contract which is good news. "He's scored 11 goals from midfield this season and that is very good going. He's improving all the time and he has got a little bit more composure in front of goal now. "He's got great energy and you can see that even towards the end of games he is still going strong. "We are delighted with those who have already agreed for next season and talks with some of the other players are still ongoing."
