Robins snare Vale keeper

Cheltenham have signed teenage goalkeeper Daniel Lloyd-Weston on a one-year contract from Port Vale.

Lloyd-Weston looking forward to pressing for first-team spot

Cheltenham Town have signed teenage goalkeeper Daniel Lloyd-Weston on a one-year contract from League Two rivals Port Vale. Lloyd-Weston, who trained with Manchester United last year, was not offered a new deal by Vale after failing to make a first-team appearance for the club. The former West Brom youngster has now secured a move to Cheltenham and is looking to push Scott Brown for the No.1 jersey at Whaddon Road. "Coming here is a new experience and a chance for me to develop as a young goalkeeper," Lloyd-Weston told the club's official website.

Great opportunity

"It's just a great opportunity and I'm really looking forward to getting back into training. "I've had experience with West Brom and Port Vale, but I'm confident in my own ability and that's something I will show to the manager. "There will be a good but healthy competition between myself and Scott (Brown) and that's something I'm looking forward too. "I'm at a young age so this is a great opportunity for me to prove myself and to force my way into the first team."
