Striker has contract terminated

Striker Tommy Wright has parted company with Aberdeen after his contract was terminated with immediate effect. The 25-year-old has failed to make an impact in the Granite City since arriving at Pittodrie from Darlington in the summer of 2008. Former Leicester trainee Wright joined Aberdeen in a £100,000 deal but has seen his time with the Scottish Premier League club disrupted by injury and a loss of form. A calf problem at the start of the season meant he was unable to impress new manager Mark McGhee and he has made just three substitute appearances since his return in November. Wright, whose Dons deal had more than a year left to run, was linked earlier this month with a move to Stockport.
