Anyon admits Vale desire

Joe Anyon is keen to resolve his Port Vale future, with the keeper happy to stay.

Joe Anyon is keen to resolve his Port Vale future, with the goalkeeper feeling it makes little sense to leave the club.

The youngster's present deal expires in the summer and he has been offered a two-year extension to stay at Vale Park.

Martin Foyle is determined to keep Anyon at the club after the keeper impressed in replacing the injured Mark Goodlad between the posts.

The 20-year-old has made 15 appearances this term and he admits his priority is to sign a new contract with the League One club.

"We still have to talk about things, but I have told the club I want to be here next year," Anyon told The Sentinel.

"I feel I still have to learn the trade.

"It would be pointless for me to go at the end of the season to sit on the bench somewhere else or even go to the league below.

"This has been ongoing now for a couple of weeks, so the sooner it gets done the better."
